Mission
An agent that has to stop and wait for you is only as fast as your next glance at the terminal. An agent that never stops is a liability. ony.ai is the missing third option: it runs until it hits a real decision, then calls you, reads out the ask, takes your answer, and keeps moving.
The canonical moment is simple. You are away from your desk. An agent mid-task needs a decision only you can make. Without ony.ai it blocks for an hour. With ony.ai your phone rings, a calm voice tells you exactly what is being asked and how risky it is, you press a key, and the work continues.
Risk classification is the filter that keeps those calls rare and worth answering. The approval gate for dangerous actions is one important case of a broader idea: your agents should be able to reach you, and you should be able to answer them, from anywhere.
Operating principles
These are not values on a wall. Each one maps to something you can verify by reading the repository.
Risk is decided by the server, never by the thing asking for permission. Decisions are signed and bound to the exact request. History is hash-chained and tamper-evident. These are not features bolted on later; they are the shape of the system.
The whole product is open source under AGPL-3.0: self-host it forever, read every line, own your data. The hosted plane adds managed infrastructure, not a paywall around the core. If a feature matters to the loop, it lives in the open repository.
Ony sends no analytics anywhere. Self-hosted, your data never reaches us. The channels that reach you carry only a redacted gist, never your code or secrets. What we say the software does is what the code does; the marketing carries only claims that are literally true.
The product exists so a decision never has to wait for you to be at a keyboard. Every design choice is measured against one question: does this help you answer your agent, from anywhere, in the fewest seconds, with full confidence in what you approved.
